2012 was a tumultuous year for many with social, environmental and economic upheavals.
For myself it was the end of an era and the beginning of a new journey that would take me down many paths.
The year began with the end of my journey as a sustainable design and research leader in a multinational design firm and took me into university teaching of masters students in ‘regenerative design’ and ‘urban ecologies’, establishing Innate Ecology and founding the Living Future Institute Australia. The year has consolidated research in sustainable communities and extended into regenerative cities; it included engagements and interactions at numerous conferences including Green Cities and Healthy Cities, and collaborations with BioRegional Australia, International Living Future Institute and ICLEI Oceania.
Far from being the end of our world, it has been a fascinating year full of opportunity, new friends and collaborations. Thank you to all my fabulous friends and colleagues that have made this year the wonder it has been.
I hope that for you too, this year has brought opportunity, joy, an awareness of how fragile life is… and respect for the lands we inhabit. A happy and joyous new year to all.
