The date is set June 15th: Better Block is happening in Geelong and we need you to make it happen, creating an engaging and vibrant temporary installation and community event in central Geelong.
We are in the final stages of co-ordinating Jason Roberts cofounder of The Better Block for a Geelong visit on Saturday June 15th for the Geelong Better Block, and he wants to see Geelong’s version of a Better Block temporary installation and the people of Geelong coming to enjoy the day.
Ideas are already flowing around street picnics, outdoor alfresco seating, pop up veggie boxes, and cycle lanes so come and join in and be a part of this event.
Our first meeting is at Beav’s Bar in Little Malop Street next Wednesday from 5.40pm – 7pm. Come and have a say about where and what will be created as the temporary installation, and how you can have an input into this. There will be just two more all in group meetings (fortnightly) prior to the day.
We are also proposing a slow CycleGeelong ride through central Geelong on Saturday 18th May beginning at eastern park at 11am and winding through the city streets and then back to eastern park for a BYO picnic lunch. This event is a precursor to the Geelong Better Block and will help to identify barriers to cycling in and around Geelong city streets. Further info and flyers to be sent out.
